What Is Reality?

le-pendu-the-hanged-man It happened many times, that clients who came for a consultation were starting our session asking the same question: Am I crazy? This question found an echo within me, the “me” who was in the same questioning many many years ago…

You may ask yourselves, crazy about what? …

… About a dead father coming into dreams to “talk”, or about a sign given in such precise way that you feel like “someone” knows about your private thoughts or wishes and wants to give you a hand. Crazy about inner values changing and decisions made on feeling basis, seemingly irrational for the majority of people because their based on what your heart tells to do you instead of following the “logic” of your mind…

Our education, the conditioning of our society can make us feel as if we are living in a reversed motion from our environment, this is the state of the “hanged man”.

The card number XII in the Tarot of Marseille shows a hanged man suspended upside down by one foot from a tree branch. In most decks the other leg is placed in a position to make it look like the number 4. The man always looks at peace, not upset in any way: he is much more an observer than an actor. I think it is such an interesting card…

In a symbolic way, we all reach a period in our life where we really feel that our point of view about the world is changing: we feel we are stepping aside from the “normal” path. It would be very wrong to think we’re stopping to be in the logical movement of the Universe, on the contrary our look, our thoughts, moves and perceptions are starting to be more and more in tune with the real flow of the Universe.

Of course, you’ll always find well-intentioned people around you saying: “Hey, this is not Wonderland! Come back on earth, you’re losing sense of reality!”

Reality…What reality? Your reality, the neighbor’s reality, the butcher’s reality? the president’s reality?… What makes their reality more relevant than mine?

“It’s only a belief!” they say… But when a belief (or something in which you don’t believe at all sometimes!) happens to take a form, to have an impact in your life, a tangible event, then that belief becomes an experience… The sum of our experiences makes what we call our reality, isn’t it? Then our personal reality cannot be compared to anyone’s: we can just live it and share it without pushing people to adopt it! In the name of what should we judge anyone? Then in the name of what definition of reality should my, your, his-her reality be judged?…

People like ancient Vedic sages who created the science of Ayurveda by connecting to Nature, Soufis connected to higher state of consciousness through dances and trances, Christian saints who started to live the passion of Christ during sufferance that avoid time and space, starting to speak ancient Aramean language that they never learned, Prophets of the Torah who used to advise kings thank to their clairvoyance…and also, simple people, regular village people who were healing, seeing, perceiving a personal reality impossible to share with everybody because it was out of the standards, all of them were then crazy?

Nowadays, many scientists are also inquiring about those “parallel worlds”, thank God, nobody will be no more burned on a church square! But unfortunetly, some of them still don’t dare to talk openly about their intuitions because of the judgement of the scientific community. Fortunately, other ones like Dr. Michio Kaku present their fascinating work about the possible existence of other dimensions than the 4 that we already know about, through reachable books for uninitiated people to sciences*.

The answer I give is “No”, you’re not crazy at all, unless thousands of people around the world, in history until nowadays are also totally insane! And more and more will come…

“Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”  Arundhati Roy

  1. Hi Rita,
Yes, the scientific community can be very brutal and it is hard to speak out and say you intuition. Many will ridicule and say you have lost touch, but many do think first with Intuition and second with logic. All of my best work is always lead by an intuitive jump and than i must use my logic to find the connections I know are there. If we explain our work that way than others will believe us. We must keep reminding scientist that they do create and and intuitive jumps are great and might lead to new areas. Once my group did the M & B personality testing together and there was only one intuitive thinker in the room. Keep up you work and let people know it is okay to seek and use their intuition.

  2. Rita, I’ve read this a few times now, and again today was nudged back here (by the LinkedIn update of all things, something I rarely even look at) and your phrase
“just live it and share it without pushing people to adopt it! ” rings strongly. I ‘ve had a week in which a buddy of mine suggested to me again “Don’t reach into the mirror!” meaning… I want to see myself in all doings and beings all around me, and I am so grateful for these mirrors, and grateful that I’m blessed with enough personal interaction to experience… and when I see myself in others, it is pointless and unfair of me to try to fix the “me” that is over “there” (not that there is such a thing as “there” but don’t get me started); otherwisely said: I gots ta stick to *this*here me and put down the mirror!
Loving your work and way it keeps unfolding… peace and light,
    Tom

    1. Dear Don and Tom,
Thank you very much for your notes, actually the more i think about this article the more i figure out that the subject is so large that i think my post is defenetly too short and incomplete…

I will develop the topic in a “what is really?” #2,
      To be continued!…

      Take care!
